Earlier we wrote about Gerber's GDC Hook Knife, a keychain-mounted device intended to cut you free from a seatbelt. We also mentioned that that's a statistically unlikely need for your average motorist to have; if your car is submerged, the larger problem is going to be getting out of the vehicle before it fills with water. Back in the days of roll-down windows, you could crank them down if you got to it quick enough—once the water pressure got too great, it would trap the windows firmly within their rubber seals and you'd be screwed. However, with today's power windows, you've got the issue of the motors shorting out if you've driven into the drink.
Every year some 400 Americans drown in their cars. (That's just 0.01% of the population, but man, what a terrible way to go.) If you can't get the window open in a sinking car, you'll need to break it. And yes, there are objects designed specifically for that task, like the carbon-steel-tipped LifeHammer Plus and LifeHammer Evolution.

Leatherman Raptor Medical Multi-Tool
Looking at Leatherman’s product line it is clear which multi-tools are designed for casual users, everyday users, those with heavier-duty needs, law enforcement officers, and military personnel. The newest tool is designed with a narrower audience in mind – uniformed medics.
Leatherman’s Raptor is a specialized multi-tool specially designed to aid medics in their life-saving efforts. Although primarily aimed at medics, the Raptor multi-tool looks to be exceptionally well suited for EMTs, rescuers, and other first responders as well.
Some of Leatherman’s other multi-tools, such as the new one-handed tool (OHT), also appeal to a broader audience despite being more tactically inspired in style and functions.

Folded up the Raptor can be clipped to your pants or gear pocket, and in the closed position the strap cutter (opposite side) can still be easily and quickly deployed with one hand.
The Raptor will come with an included MOLLE-compatible polymer holster that allows for the shears to snap in with the tool in either the open or closed position.

Gio tirotto.
This cutlery by Italian designer Gio Tirotto looks more like a set of workshop tools.
Called No Pause, the 3D-printed prototypes have handles modelled on screwdrivers and chisels.
The set also includes a knife shaped like a hacksaw.
“The tools are mixed with the table set, as if both these different objects wanted to change room, as if they wanted to describe something else,” says Tirotto. “The shape increases the thinness between irony and etiquette, like a ritual that harmonizes imagination and function.”
